Meet the Maker
Hello, I'm Lee (not Imric!)
I'm the maker behind Imric's Emporium.
I've always enjoyed making things, and I've always loved fantasy and tabletop games, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before the two collided.
What started with me making a few things to help with my own D&D games gradually turned into the Emporium: part workshop, part collection of interesting things, and a very good excuse for me to keep experimenting with wood, magnets, 3D printing and whatever other ideas find their way onto the workbench.
Why Imric's Emporium?
A few years ago, after a very long break from tabletop roleplaying games, I walked into a local games shop and booked myself onto a D&D starter session. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but before long I'd joined a campaign that would continue for several years.
Imric was my character in that campaign.
As we played, I started making things that helped me manage some of the details of the game without constantly having to stop and check character sheets or remember changing numbers. Those early ideas eventually became trackers, boxes and, much later, the beginnings of Imric's Emporium.
The Emporium part came from the kind of shop I wanted this to become. Not just shelves of products, but a slightly curious collection of useful things for people who enjoy games, stories and making their characters feel a little more real.
Objects That Belong in the Story
I think the things we bring to the table become part of the game.
Most of us have probably bought a set of dice because they were obviously perfect for a particular character. Or bought a new notebook with every intention of keeping beautifully organised campaign notes in it.
How long that organisation lasts is another matter.
But that's part of the fun.
We spend hours creating characters, imagining who they are and telling their stories together. Some of those characters stay with us for years after the campaign has finished, so I like the idea that the things we use while playing can become part of those memories too.
That's really what I'm trying to make here.
Sometimes it's something practical, like a tracker that means you don't have to remember every changing number on your character sheet. Sometimes it's a box made specifically for a character and the things they carry.
And sometimes it's simply another set of dice.
Because apparently there is no such thing as enough dice.
Made in the Workshop
A lot of what you'll find in the Emporium is designed, made, assembled or finished by me in my workshop.
That means I probably spend far too much time thinking about things like how a dial feels when you turn it, whether two pieces of wood look right together, or whether something needs moving half a millimetre so that it works just a little better.
I genuinely enjoy that part of it.
I want the things I make to feel good to pick up and use, but I also want receiving something from the Emporium to be enjoyable — from opening the parcel to putting it on the table for the first time.
It's a small business, and I'd quite like it to always feel like one.
A Note from the Maker
Thank you for visiting the Emporium — and especially for making it all the way down this page!
Whether you're here looking for something for a long-running character, buying a gift for another adventurer, or you've simply wandered in to see what I've been making, I hope you find something you like.
And if something from the Emporium does end up becoming part of your game, I'd genuinely love to hear about it.
One of the nicest parts of making these things is discovering where they end up and the characters and stories they become part of.
Come Further In
If you'd like to see where things are made, have a look around the workshop. You can also browse everything currently in the Emporium, or get in touch if you have an idea for something a little more personal.
